Computer Technician Qualifications To Consider When Hiring IT

When hiring an IT consultant, most shop on price.

While price does play a major role in the decision, your real
goal should be computer technician qualifications.

Sure, your brother’s friend’s cousin may be free but does he
really know what he’s doing? In the end, he may fix one thing
but inadvertently breaks five other things in the process.

Or maybe he accidentally deleted some important files and didn't backup anything first.

That free tech guy is not so free anymore.

Here’s three computer technician qualifications you should look for when hiring a technician for your business.

1.) Know The Computer Technician Qualifications That You Need

The computer industry is big and broad and so are the skill sets. A programmer may be able to write you a custom piece of billing software but they cannot necessarily setup your new server.

When checking computer technician qualifications you need to educate yourself on exact skill sets for the work you need done.

If you need to have a server installed, find a technician who can provide examples of when they have done this type of work in the past. And check those references to confirm the work was completed correctly and satisfactorily.

Remember, just because they work with computers does not mean they are an expert in all the subsets of the industry.

2.) They Don’t Always Have The Answer But The Response Matters

You don’t always believe everything that you are told right? The same thing goes with computer tech speak. You need to understand that sometimes your computer tech may not know the answer.

But if they are throwing gibberish at you to only confuse you, this is a bad sign.

Another computer technician qualification to take into account is communication. You should feel comfortable being able to ask questions and get real answers in plain English. Find a technician that is willing to break down things for you and allow you to know exactly what is going on.

And if they don’t know the answer and let you know so, don’t fret. Part of their job is to find the solution.

3.) Things Will Break So Check Availability

It’s going to break no matter how good a technician you find. Technology is one of those mysteries of the world that items break without any good reason.

Therefore, one of the computer technician qualifications to consider is how reachable is your technician. Find a technician that will suit your needs for response time.

Is your business flexible enough to last a day or two without the printer or will that cause work to cease to a halt? Consider these factors when locating a technician and if you require 24/7 support then hire someone that can offer this service.
